Walks With Wally:
21 Ways to Deconstruct Anxiety Through Christ
Anxiety—A Silent Assassin
Most of us recognize the word “anxiety” and have pre-conceived ideas about what it is. Often, the words “fear” and “stress” come to mind when this subject enters a conversation, and that’s absolutely right. But is there something else going on here? Could there be a more diabolical, spiritual plan at work by the enemy to enslave us with his lies about what negative events might happen to us?
Yes, absolutely.
The bible gives us so much hope and is the only real antidote to anxiety. Most human beings battle this affliction in some way, shape, or form. Anxiety will
absolutely rob you of your joy and diminish your life. But sometimes, people don’t even know they’re experiencing it. So how can we fight against this invisible enemy? What, exactly, is going on here? Perhaps this:
“Very often, anxiety is a boxing match between ourselves and the ghosts of what might be, not what actually is. This flavor of anxiety is often a made-up, pugilistic endeavor which exists only in the mind. Anxiety takes something that’s within the realm of possibility and drops it into the ring to go a few rounds with us. It’s a false echo of what’s merely possible, and it entices us to go ahead and begin the process of fighting against it—even though it’s not actually real. It’s shadow boxing with an enemy that’s most often a mere mirage of reality. It’s shadow boxing with ghosts. And it’s totally unnecessary.”

"A heartfelt story and guide, written with compassion and care. This is an important book as there are very few guides on how to navigate anxiety written by a sufferer. This book is unique; the author draws on his faith and nature walks with his dog Wally, as a healing process. I love how the book is structured in the form of a 21 day fast, and how each day has a different theme and message. The author has a strong voice and is a skillful storyteller. This is both a spiritual and practical guide, packed with useful suggestions and comforting words. It’s very easy to read, understand, and to implement the lessons. I love the "Jesus wasn’t kidding when He said…" verses included in every chapter. I love some of the quotes, “smother it in gratitude,” “gobble up life like a Pac Man,” “gratitude is an antivenom to anxiety.” This is a very deep, well-researched, thought-provoking and well-written book."
